Chess Club

For masters through beginners, casual or competitive. Chess club is open to elementary and middle school students; however, GCS competition is only offered for middle school. There are two county-wide chess invitationals for grades 6-8, typically one in December and one in April/May. For the 2025-2026 school year, membership is limited to 20 students for elementary and 20 students for middle school. The elementary and middle school levels will meet in the media center on the 1st/3rd Monday of the month from 8:05-8:50 AM, beginning October 5th. To join, please ensure that you've completed the commitment form. Students receiving a spot will be notified. Students not on the roster will not be able to enter the building. There will be optional fees for a club t-shirt and the club end-of-year party.
